Every source, and when we last checked it.

Right now: website operational, api and mcp server operational, database and sign-in operational, rule data operational, data freshness operational. All 295 sources are up to date. We track 305 and hold a dated copy of 295; the other 10 are marked Not read yet below. Rules are current to 31 Oct 2026; the page was loaded on 1 Nov 2026. A last-checked date tells you when we last read a source, not that the law hasn't changed since.

What ClaraDB has checked

ClaraDB gives a verdict only for PFAS state laws for cookware and bakeware, California Proposition 65 consumer-product warning check for BPA, BPS, formaldehyde, styrene, antimony trioxide, vinyl acetate, lead and cadmium, California Proposition 65 warning check for candles and ceramicware (lead, cadmium, formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, benzene, naphthalene, carbon monoxide, benzo[a]pyrene), US packaging EPR producer size thresholds (California, Colorado, Maryland, Minnesota, Oregon, Washington) for a brand-owning manufacturer, US lead in children's products and furniture (lead paint and total lead content), US lead in toys and child care articles (lead paint and total lead content), US lead in children's products (other) and bags (lead paint and total lead content), US phthalates in children's toys and child care articles (DEHP, DBP, BBP, DINP, DIBP, DPENP, DHEXP, DCHP) and US children's product certificate and tracking label for children's tableware (AI-checked, quotes verified word for word). Every other answer shows the laws and quotes found without saying whether they apply.

How it was tested, PFAS state laws for cookware and bakeware: Scored once on the measure fixed before scoring (law items plus dated-change items): 52 of 53 agree. Law items alone: 38 of 39 (97.44%); dated changes: 14 of 14. The one extra is a question (US-NM juvenile-products ban asks whether the item is for children under 12), not a verdict. California (AB 1200) is left out: its cookware provisions were not scored.

How it was tested, California Proposition 65 consumer-product warning check for BPA, BPS, formaldehyde, styrene, antimony trioxide, vinyl acetate, lead and cadmium: 42 of 42 answers agree on the rows BPA, BPS, formaldehyde (gas), styrene, antimony trioxide and vinyl acetate; law items 29 of 29, dated changes 13 of 13, recorded unchanged. The lead and cadmium rows were added later: the list gives them no CAS number, so each is restated for its CAS number (7439-92-1, 7440-43-9) and a seller who gives either the list name or the CAS number reaches the same row. Their 22 answers were scored for the first time together with the 42: 64 of 64 agree, no confident wrong answer, 40 of 40 cases. Only these 13 list rows are checked: BPA, BPS, formaldehyde (gas), styrene, antimony trioxide, vinyl acetate, lead (reproductive), lead and lead compounds (cancer), cadmium (reproductive), cadmium and cadmium compounds (cancer). Every other row of the list, DEHP and PFOA included, stays not checked: their 10 answers are outside the score under standing rulings. Checked for drinkware, food storage, melamine dinnerware, plastic utensils, upholstered seating and composite-wood furniture; cookware and bakeware in California stay not checked.

How it was tested, California Proposition 65 warning check for candles and ceramicware (lead, cadmium, formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, benzene, naphthalene, carbon monoxide, benzo[a]pyrene): Scored once on a fresh set of 40 candle and ceramicware products, fixed before the score: 73 of 73 answers agree, 40 of 40 cases, no confident wrong answer. Only these 11 list rows are checked, for candles, ceramic dinnerware, ceramic mugs and glass or ceramic bakeware: lead (reproductive), lead and lead compounds (cancer), cadmium (reproductive), cadmium and cadmium compounds (cancer), formaldehyde (gas), acetaldehyde, benzene (cancer; developmental, male), naphthalene, carbon monoxide and benzo[a]pyrene. Every other list row stays not checked. A measured value does not decide the answer: the safe harbor level is the seller's own defence to show. No row has a pending grace period, so no dated change is in the score. Ceramic cookware and decor other than candles stay not checked.

How it was tested, US packaging EPR producer size thresholds (California, Colorado, Maryland, Minnesota, Oregon, Washington) for a brand-owning manufacturer: Scored once after the engine read the size lines (revenue, California sales, state tonnage) and the 'After July 1' start days: 24 of 24 answers agree, no confident wrong answer. One case (2023-06-01, before ClaraDB's US coverage window) differs on the coverage line only. Maine is not in this type; who counts as the producer (role) is not in the score.

How it was tested, US lead in children's products and furniture (lead paint and total lead content): Scored once on a fresh set of 40 products, fixed before the score, after an earlier set (listed under attempts) found two causes that were then fixed: the paint ban is asked only when a paint or coating is stated, and dates before ClaraDB's US coverage window (2025) are reported as outside coverage. 43 of 43 answers agree and 3 of 3 outside-coverage dates agree, no confident wrong answer. The lead value is read as the lead in the coating. Exemptions and the superseded 600 and 300 ppm steps are not in the score.

How it was tested, US lead in toys and child care articles (lead paint and total lead content): Scored once on a fresh set of 40 toys and child care articles (painted and unpainted wood, plastic, PVC, metal parts, plush, rattles, teethers, pacifiers, baby bottles, cribs, crib mattresses, sleep sacks), fixed before the score and settled from the laws' own words, using the same lead rules already checked for children's tableware and furniture: 42 of 42 answers agree, 40 of 40 cases, 2 of 2 dates before ClaraDB's US window (2025) reported as outside coverage, no confident wrong answer. The paint ban is asked only when a paint or coating is stated, and the lead value is read as the lead in the coating. A toy or care article sold for adults, or with no answer on whether it is for children, is not given a verdict. The furniture paint rule (16 CFR 1303.4(c)) is not part of this check for child care articles, because that group mixes cribs with pacifiers and bottles; a crib is checked under the rule for articles made for children. Exemptions and the superseded 600 and 300 ppm steps are not in the score.

How it was tested, US lead in children's products (other) and bags (lead paint and total lead content): Scored once on a fresh set of 40 children's products (other) and bags (painted and unpainted wood, coated vinyl and textile at the paint threshold, rubber and PVC boots, plastic lunch boxes at 100 and 101 ppm, metal parts, printed textile, leather with metal, backpacks and handbags, adult and children's), fixed before the score and settled from the laws' own words, using the same two lead rules already checked for toys, child care articles, tableware and furniture: 42 of 42 answers agree, 40 of 40 cases, 3 cases dated before ClaraDB's US window reported as outside coverage, no confident wrong answer. The paint ban is asked only when a paint or coating is stated; ink on textile is not paint. A bag or other item sold for adults, or with no answer on whether it is for children, gets no verdict. The tracking label (15 U.S.C. 2063(a)(5)), the children's product certificate (16 CFR 1110) and third-party testing (16 CFR 1107) are not part of this check and stay laws found, not checked. The furniture paint rule (16 CFR 1303.4(c)) does not apply to these groups.

How it was tested, US phthalates in children's toys and child care articles (DEHP, DBP, BBP, DINP, DIBP, DPENP, DHEXP, DCHP): Scored once on a fresh set of 40 products (toys, teethers, pacifiers, bath and feeding items), fixed before the score and settled from the law's own words: 58 of 58 answers agree, 40 of 40 cases, no confident wrong answer. Eight phthalates are checked against the 0.1 percent limit (1000 ppm) in children's toys and child care articles; a value at or below the limit is met, above it is not met, and no value is unknown.

How it was tested, US children's product certificate and tracking label for children's tableware: Scored once on a fresh set of 40 children's products (kids' plates, cups, snack cups, utensils, bibs, toys, care articles), fixed before the score and settled from the laws' own words: 198 of 198 answers agree on binds, does not apply or which fact is missing, no confident wrong answer, recorded unchanged. Only the children's product certificate (16 CFR 1110.5), its records (1110.17), certificate filing at entry (1110.13(a)(1)) and the tracking label (15 U.S.C. 2063(a)(5)(A)) are checked: their answers and start dates agree on all 40 cases. Third-party testing (16 CFR 1107.20(a), 1107.21(b), 1107.23(a)) agrees on every answer but not on its start date (31 cases), so those three rows stay laws found, not checked, until the start date is settled. Checked for children's plates, bowls, cups, snack cups, utensils and bibs; toys, child care articles and other children's goods stay not checked for these laws. A seller who neither makes nor imports the product is told these duties do not bind it; when the role is not given, it is asked.

The rule for calling a question type checked

A type of question (a market, a kind of rule and a kind of product) is marked checked only after about 40 test products are answered rule by rule, each answer tied to the law's exact words, drafted by one AI pass and settled by a second, and fixed before scoring. It must match on at least 98% of answers, with no confident wrong answer, on its first and only score. A type that fails is listed and stays not checked. For every other question ClaraDB shows the laws and their exact words as found, and never guesses whether they apply.

How answers are built: methodology.

Rules by industry and market

How many rules we have, by market and industry. A dash means we have none there yet, and a check reads it as Not covered, never a pass. A rule counted here is shown with its quote; it gets a verdict only inside a checked question type (see What ClaraDB has checked).
